Spring Break

I just love not having to wake up to an alarm. Abby is still sleeping later from the time change. It's glorious!

We went to the Cameron Zoo yesterday with friends. Abby really had a good time. She especially liked the monkeys. She would point and say, "Mine, mine!" (which means monkey). Abby also loved the aquariums. I was surprised at how much attention she payed to the animals. She didn't fuss at all the whole time we were there.

I have lots of other fun things for us to do this week with friends. Too bad I have to go back to work next week.

This is a pic of Abby in the "dress up" hat that she loves to put on.

Abby's gonna be a big sis

Shame, shame on me for not updating. Life has been a whirlwind since Christmas. Andy has been super busy at work. Abby is walking (and almost running) EVERYWHERE. I'm trying to get my kids ready for the first round of TAKS test. The writing test is March 3rd (say a little prayer).
And, we will be expecting a new member of to our family in October.
I went to the Dr. today and saw the little heartbeat. Everything looks good so far. The baby measured 7 weeks, 3 days.
With Abby, life was grand all 9 months. Unfortunately, I've been really nauseated with this one. Not just in the morning, but all day long. So, I'm really really looking forward to the 2nd trimester.

Merry Christmas!

There is nothing like a child to bring back the magic of Christmas. I've enjoyed the season more this year than any in the past decade. Before, I was concerned about where we were going, and what we would buy, and what would I wear...However, this year the only thing that truly matters is being with family to celebrate the most precious gift from our Lord. No one will really remember what you wore, what time you arrived, or what gift you bought them. What lingers is the feeling of togetherness and love. I am so thankful that God has blessed us with a perfect daughter, supportive family, friends, good jobs, and a comfortable home.

Ready, Set,...Go!

Abby is finally walking! She got her little self into a standing position from sitting and then took a couple of steps on her own. She still looks like a drunk monkey, but she's getting better. Luckily, Nana, PawPaw, and Gigi were there to witness the event.

Now that Abby is a more confident walker, she takes her walking toy all over the house. (Thank goodness we still have 15 more years before she drives a car!)

Abby monopolized the bumbo at daycare, so we decided to get hers back out of the closet. She loves to sit in it. She can get herself in and out. It's like her own personal little throne.

I can't let her out of my sight for a minute. The little turkey found some angel hair pasta.

She keeps me busy

Abby is keeping me busier than ever. She has found her belly button and her nipples. Abby constantly pulls her shirt up with one hand and then plays with body parts with the other hand. Not to mention that she can pull her pants off now too. I wasn't too worried until my mom said that she'd be pulling her diaper off next. I hadn't thought of that!
It's harder and harder to take her to the grocery story. She likes to pull down anything within her reach, and somehow she can turn herself around in the basket seat. It doesn't matter how tight I strap her in, she can still turn around, get into the squatting position, then stand up. It's a little embarrassing when she is leaning over the back of the basket seat, looking at the groceries, and screaming. It's all I can do to keep her in the basket.

Election Day Thought

Abby will be 5 years old during the next Presidential election. Weird.

I'm very anxious to know the results of today's election. I think what bothers me the most is that people can base their voting decision solely on an uneducated bias. I agree that everyone has the right to vote. However, ethnicity has become more of an issue than actual party platforms or candidate policies. I wonder how many Americans truly know what they are voting for...

no candy for us

We had a very low-key Halloween. No trick or treaters. My friend Jennie, who now lives in Houston, came into town. We had dinner, and I got to show off Abby. Andy left for the deer lease. He won't be back until Monday. So, it's just us girls! Mom is coming to visit which means shopping will ensue.
This morning, I am picking up the million things Abby drags around the house. Her favorite at the moment is my heavy Wilton Armitale bowl. I caught her banging the metal bowl with a wooden spoon. Classic.
