This was probably the easiest first day I've ever had. Why didn't I move up grade levels years ago? The kids are really great. I look forward to an awesome year. And once again, I cannot say enough praise for Snook ISD. I am truly blessed to work in such a wonderful environment.
Don't get me wrong, I have quite a bit of routine to undergo. The kids thought it was grand to call me "Mrs. New York." My response was, "I wish I WAS Mrs. New York!" :D

Meet the teacher night was great. My students are absolutely precious. I hope that I still think so in a few weeks :D
Abby is squatting now. Some of my mama friends say that it's the next step after cruising and that she could be standing on her own soon! Abby is really jabbering now. It's so cute. I wonder what she's saying..."You people think I'm going to fall for this silly Sesame Street remote and while you keep the real one?!"
"Wow. Look at my hands. Aren't they neat? You've got hands too! Cool."
"Mary Had a Little Lamb rocks!"

Abby's also really into books and balloons. She got one from a birthday party and really enjoyed playing with it, so I tied one onto the shopping cart last time we went to HEB. She pulls the string, watches the balloon bob up and down, then she laughs and claps her hands. Abby is fascinated with her board books. She likes to open the book and turn the pages (as you can see in the picture below).

Yesterday was our first day of inservice at Snook. I can't say enough good things about the district. Everyone has made me feel so welcome. My mentor even bought me lunch. All the teachers have a positive attitude and are very willing to help me with anything that I need. My jaw dropped when they announced that conferences would have to be reduced from 70 minutes to an hour. Most districts only give you the minimum of 45 minutes. An extra 15 minutes a day!!! I was floored.

I can't believe it's back to work time already. Abby goes back to daycare on Monday so I can go work in my classroom. I "officially" start back next Thursday. We checked out Abby's new classroom since she is moving up to pre-toddler. Many of the same babies from her infant room will be in her new room.
I'm equally terrified and excited about my new job. I'll be teaching writing and social studies (Texas history). I know it'll be okay once I get into the swing of things, but right now it still seems overwhelming and scary.
Abby is 11 months old today. Her 1st birthday is rapidly approaching. I've had so much fun planning and sewing for it. I was just pondering this morning about how last year at this time I was gigantic pregnant. Makes me want another one....

Yes, I'm a bad blogger. In my defense, we've been busy and out of town! Andy went to Chicago for work (lucky dog), so Abby and I went to my parents house. Abby enjoyed hamming it up with Nana and Paw Paw. They blew raspberries at each other. Abby's got real spit distance. Too bad it's not an Olympic sport.
I went to Snook to take some paperwork. I stepped in my classroom for a few minutes, and that is when the panic hit. Where do I even start? I've been blissfully ignoring the reality that I go back to work in, let's see, 10 DAYS!
