Election Day Thought

Abby will be 5 years old during the next Presidential election. Weird.

I'm very anxious to know the results of today's election. I think what bothers me the most is that people can base their voting decision solely on an uneducated bias. I agree that everyone has the right to vote. However, ethnicity has become more of an issue than actual party platforms or candidate policies. I wonder how many Americans truly know what they are voting for...

no candy for us

We had a very low-key Halloween. No trick or treaters. My friend Jennie, who now lives in Houston, came into town. We had dinner, and I got to show off Abby. Andy left for the deer lease. He won't be back until Monday. So, it's just us girls! Mom is coming to visit which means shopping will ensue.
This morning, I am picking up the million things Abby drags around the house. Her favorite at the moment is my heavy Wilton Armitale bowl. I caught her banging the metal bowl with a wooden spoon. Classic.

One small step!

Last night, Abby was cruising the furniture in the living room. She turned to come to me, let go of the couch, and took a step on her own! Yes, she immediately sat down, but it was at least one step on her own.
I bought her some wee squeak shoes that sqeak when she presses her heal down. Abby stand and hold on to something so she can bounce and squeak her shoes. :)

Lazy Sunday

It's been a very calm, relaxing day of laundry and grading papers. Andy went to the deer lease with my dad to get the land set up for hunting season. It's so good to just be at home and play with Abby. I had a whirlwind of a day yesterday. I joined some friends at the Walk for Autism in Houston yesterday morning. Then Andy, Abby, and I went back into Houston that evening to go to St. Arnold's Oktoberfest party. The food and band were great. Even Ben helped entertain Abby. The man in the blond braided wig is Brock Wagner, the owner of St. Arnold's. Here's some pictures.

Calling Nana

Abby loves to push buttons. It doesn't matter if it is the stereo, remote control, or the phone. Today she got ahold of my cell phone, opened it, and dialed Nana. I have my mom on speed dial, so I could hear the familiar "one number" speed dialing. Abby said, "Nana," and then pressed end. I took the phone away and looked at my dialing history. Guess who she called...yep. Nana.

I'm a sewing maniac!!!

Here's a picture of Abby's Christmas dress:

Her "Bavarian" Oktoberfest Dress:

Isn't she cute with pigtails? It really makes her look more grown up.
